Time to start bird feeding
After a few colder nights and days, we decided to start feeding the birds here at home yard. It is great fun to follow small birds having a good time at the feeder. And of course the squirrels make use of grains, seeds and nuts, too. At the moment we have 3 different feeders, so there is a bit less competition among dozens of birds and 5 to 7 squirrels. Besides the joy of watching and helping birds, feeders also provide easy photography opportunities. I have placed the feeders in morning, day and evening sunlight, so when ever I have time and feel so, I grab the camera and go out.
Going for flight images
Just for fun I decided to try some flight images. I am pretty pleased with a few of the pictures, its after all pretty difficult to to get a sharp eye for 10-15 cm tall bird which is all the time on the move to some direction. I tried both “follow-focusing” and pre-focus and found out that the latter gives better success. Because of quite shallow depth of field its more or less the matter of luck how sharp the result will be. The more I shot the more useful images I got. But the hit rate aint that high… 🙂 At the end of the post there is an image slider with more shots
