Once again I had a good session in Pohtiolampi Sääksikeskus photographing wild ospreys which visit a small pond full of fish very regularly. Although there is one bird who has his nest close to the pond and so he thinks that the pond is his territory. There are 2 major effects of this behaviour; he goes fishing there very often and rests in the trees visible to the hides, so there is something to see and shoot. But he also repels other birds away and prevents them fishing from ‘his pond’. So when the ‘foreigner’ arrives the Baron chases the other away, and then there is no birds in sight for a long time.
This time I stayed in the upper photography tower, so I was able shoot flying and diving birds better. And I got the image I have been after for all the time I have visited Pohtiolampi. You can guess which one it is… 🙂
