I had a marvellous opportunity, thanks to mr Tapio Kaisla, to shoot once again ospreys at Finnish Osprey Foundation at Kangasala, Finland. Tapio had succeeded to book a day in the hides, that he, unfortunately, was not able to spent there. I felt like a lucky duck, eh, or osprey, when I got in contact with Tapio via Twitter and we arranged so that I could buy his “hide time”. I was a bit suspicious about the amount of ospreys visiting the pond this time of the year while they are busy building nests, but I was all wrong! I was totally surprised that there were so many birds and strikes and dives during the evening and early morning. I managed to get a few nice shots, but on the other hand, I missed plenty of great opportunities, partly because I am not yet totally used to my new Canon 7D mark2. This was the 1st time I used it for this kind of “action photography” even if I have had it almost half a year already. But, I must say, I am very pleased with the results compared to my trustworthy Canon 40D. The image dynamics, sharpness and autofocus speed is something awesome! Not to mention the high frame rate ( 10 frames/sec!), which makes sorting images laborious… 😉 I had some 600 images when I got back home, now trying to find the diamonds from all of those frames… Should it be easier if the camera would make only, say, 2 frames/sec… 🙂 ??
Here is attached one of my quick browse through favourite:… More to follow later…
