I met this guy early morning yesterday at our lake cottage deck. I noticed it flying over the lake surface, and started to track it with my camera which had 400mm/f4 and 1.4 extender attached. It got closer and closer, larger and larger in the viewfinder, and it finally sat on the deck next to me. It was obviously a bit more than 8 meters away, cos the lens was set to focus further than 8m. It was all the time moving but I managed to get a few sharp eye shots,; due the low light conditions at 4:25AM the shutter speed was only 1/15 sec so the tail is bit blurry 🙂
